Bayside Secondary School promotes a culture of excellence and maintains high expectations for all. Our positive and inclusive school culture promotes high academic standards with a wide variety of supports available. We value our student voice and we have a strong extracurricular program available for all students. We promote excellence by engaging students in a relevant, challenging curriculum and an extracurricular program that reflects student interests.  

Specialized Programming

We offer various specialty programs including Specialist High Skills Major Manufacturing, Bayside Outside Specialist High Skills Major program focused on the Environment, Outdoor Education, and AP Math.

Special Education

BSS believes that all students can achieve success. Students are provided with enabling, inclusive, and dynamic educational experiences in the least restrictive learning environment possible. Based on the Continuous Assessment Process, we believe that early intervention, proactive program planning and ongoing support are essential to maximize student achievement.

Students with exceptional learning needs may also be supported by designated Learning Support Teachers (LSTs), in addition to classroom teachers and shared Educational Assistant supports.

In specific circumstances, a system referral for placement outside the regular classroom may be considered based on specific criteria to meet the programming needs of some exceptional learners.

French Immersion

We offer French Immersion programming for our grade 7-12 students.

Intermediate Division

As a grade 7 -12 school, the grade 7-8 intermediate division represents a significant focus of our school. We offer both English and French Immersion programming for students in grade 7 & 8. 

Our Facilities

Our 200-acre campus (the largest in North America) includes a quarry, wooded trails, and extensive playing fields. These facilities allow us to offer enhanced programs in many subject areas such as Outdoor Education, Environmental Science, and Bayside Outside. 

We have five brand-new science labs that were renovated in 2020. Our manufacturing shop has the latest technology, the drama room and cafetorium are great locations for plays and other gatherings and events. The learning commons is a welcoming and inclusive space for all of our students. In the learning commons you can join a club, find great books to read, borrow a chrome book, play at game or do a puzzle. We have a large weight room with various equipment and a double gymnasium that is often the host of many great sporting events.
