PPL 1OB or PPL 1OG • Healthy Active Living Education (male and female), Open
This course emphasizes daily participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Students will learn movement techniques and principles, ways to improve personal fitness and physical competence, and safety/injury prevention strategies. They will investigate issues related to healthy sexuality and the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs and will participate in activities designed to develop goal-setting, communication and social skills.

PAD 2O • Outdoor Activities, Open (Co-ed)
This course emphasizes regular participation in a variety of enjoyable outdoor activities that promote lifelong healthy active living. Student learning will include application of movement principles to refine skills, and participation in a variety of outdoor activities that ensure personal competence, fitness and health. The student will examine issues related to healthy sexuality, healthy eating, substance abuse, and the use of informed decision-making, conflict resolution and social skills in making personal choices. Student activities may include camping, canoeing, hiking, biking, orienteering and rock climbing.
Additional fees will be requested for various excursions. Expected excursions and an approximate cost will be included in the Course Outline.

This course emphasizes advanced skill development, strategy and tactics, and training principles in a highly competitive environment for a variety of sport specific physical activities. Student learning will include the application of movement principles to refine skills; participation in a variety of activities that enhance personal competence, fitness, health; examination of issues related to healthy sexuality, healthy eating, substance use and abuse; and the use of informed decision-making, conflict resolution, and social skills in making personal choices.
Note: Admission is subject to approval of previous HPE Instructor.

PAI 3OGPersonal Fitness, Female, Grade 11, Open
This course focuses on the development of a healthy lifestyle and participation in a variety of enjoyable physical activities that have the potential to engage students’ interest throughout their lives. Students will be encouraged to develop personal competence in a variety of movement skills, and will be given opportunities to practice goal-setting, decision-making, coping, social, and interpersonal skills. Students will also study the components of healthy relationships, reproductive health, mental health, and personal safety. The focus area of this course caters to students interested in learning a variety of fitness, resistance training, and circuit training protocols.  The course will progress from general fitness training methods that will establish a solid cardiovascular and core muscular endurance base, to a more individualized personal training program.  Workouts will be supplemented with various activities both indoor and outdoor that will emphasize participation over competition.  Class excursions may include visits to community fitness clubs.

PAF 3O • Body Fit, Co-ed Grade 11, Open
